My RØDE Reel Contest finished for another year

Well the film contest is over and there was no win for Rampant Film, but it was a lot of fun making the film and we are encouraged to continue on with our efforts. We will look for more competitions and other film making experiences.

Could I encourage all of you to watch as many of the films made by all those who entered the My RØDE Reel film contest this year. The quality was incredible from filmmakers all over the world.

Too much Social Media

It's probably not the best move to complain about social media on a social media website. However, I am still going to do it. I find Twitter to be a bit more complicated now. I enjoyed having a direct feed on this website, here on the BLOG side, as it was my go-to place for comments and posts - so it made sense to me to have it here on the BLOG.  However, it seems that you can no longer view Twitter posts unless logged into Twitter.  I have also created a Threads account for my writing and creative work. However, as I had used "jafwords" before for a personal account on Instagram, I couldn't transfer the account name over. I started with Jafwords2 on Threads, but I really didn't like that. For my Daddy...

I should probably have used this blog entry to write something positive about 2015 but sadly, at this time for me and my family, I need to write something else. You see 2014 was a year that ended in a really hard way for us. Back in August of 2013 my Dad was diagnosed with a rare form of Bile-duct Cancer - I am afraid I can't actually remember the real name. Originally we had been told that the tumour was on one side of his liver and an operation was to be conducted, which would save his life. Spent that summer preparing for that day he was going to get the operation knowing that the next 6 months would be hard during his recovery. We came to the end of August/Early September and my dad was asked to go back into for some minor keyhole surgery as the surgeon wanted to have another look.
